Arkansas Folk Arts Survey and Needs Assessment
From February-June 2021, AFTA conducted a phase one folk arts survey and needs assessment throughout the state of Arkansas by meeting with and interviewing various stakeholders across the state. While this initial survey was funded through support from Mid-America Arts Alliance, AFTA is continuing this work by extending the research and survey to a second phase.
The survey and needs assessment project aims to build a network of Arkansas artists, tradition bearers, and organizations. This project also enables Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts to support both traditional artists and organizations that share AFTA’s mission of documenting, presenting, and sustaining Arkansas’ folk arts. Interviews conducted for this project help AFTA understand the state’s crucial needs so that AFTA can address them in future programming while also bolstering existing successes.
